Minute book of the Limerick Masons, Slaters, Bricklayers, Plasterers, Painters, Pavers, Lime-burners Guild covering the periods 1746-1757 and 1856-1876. Entries 1746-1757 fall into four main categories, 1) the recording of names of new members into the guild 2) meetings called to assess complaints of faulty workmanship, 3) accounts of quarterage, and 4) expenses spent on porter and other drinks. The entries for 1856-1876 are largely accounts. Board cover with leather spine, containing 8 sections. Seven of the sections contain the entries 1746-1757, while the eighth is of different paper and was added at a later date. The leather spine is a replacement, stitched to the boards and does not quite run the full length of the spine. It is holed in one place. The eighth section was added at the time of the repair because it is stitched to the new spine. There are traces of the original leather spine at the spine edges of the boards. The original seven sections are held together with four vellum tapes while a fifth has been replaced with cord, presumably when repaired. Overall the book is very worn and the replacement spine is coming off both front and back. The first seven sections were probably never attached to the spine when it was repaired and they are coming apart at the spines. All the page edges are scuffed, while the first two pages of the first section are missing. Within there are several loose pages and a small number have been cut and others are stained with use. Some of the inside pages are stamped recently, "Limerick City Library, Reference Dept."
