Bowl, Limerick silver, by Joseph Johns. Applied trumpet foot. Flat rim with groove and ridge below. Nineteenth century chasing on body, that below the rim bounded below by wavy bands, the higher end crests surmounted by scallop shells, two lower crest surmounted by a plant motif, the five spaces between filled, in succession around the bowl, with rosettes, lattice with central dot and circles at the intersections, lattice with central circle and dots at the intersections, rosettes, lattice with central dot in circle and dashes at the intersections. The ornament towards the base of the bowl is wave topped, the crests surmounted by scallop shells, the troughs with triangular scallop like motifs. The ornament is bounded below by a wavy band, and is infilled with marigolds and leaves on a stippled background. Mark: on centre of base: I I, lion rampant between, on shield. The number 69 is engraved below the mark
