Medal, Dublin silver, Arch Confraternity of the Holy Family, Limerick. A cross shaped medal with shamrocks in the gaps between arms of the cross, and with the top of the upper arm crowned. The arms of the cross are expanding, with concave sides and convex top. The crown is formed of a simple curved band with a row of triangular points over. On the band is Jesus Mary Joseph. In the arms of the cross there is interlace, and in the centre is a circular area, inscribed Limerick / holy Family / Golden Jubilee / 1868 - 1918. On the central point of the crown there is a perforated disc, in which is a ring, into which is connected a copper alloy ring, which is also connected to a flat copper alloy suspension bar. Into a longitudinal slot in this bar is looped a green ribbon. At the other end of the ribbon is another suspension bar, identical to the other though without a hole for a ring, and with the addition of a double ended pin, hinge and hook, at the back. The ribbon is looped through this bar also in similar fashion, and the two ends of the ribbon are stitched together at the back in the middle. Just above and below, respectively, the suspension bars, the ribbon is stitched through across its width. Rev: Plain. Across the centre, between two decorated lines, Pal Lawlor, and bottom, hallmarks, representing Dublin 1917 - 18, and below them, another mark, H & H, representing Hopkins and Hopkins, Dublin.
