Front, "Stamp Office, Dublin,/ No. [1652 12] day of [February] 1842 (2 over written 4)/ Received from [Peter O'Brien]/ Distributer of Stamps for [Limerick] the Sum of/ [Seventeen Pounds Seven Shillings/ Advertisement Duty due by Limerick Reporter (Reporter crossed out and "Chronicle" over)] / on Account of Stamp Duties, being the Amount of his/ Remittance for the Week end ("his" to "end" crossed out) [a/ Payment of] the[is day ]/ £ [17:7/- Robert Tyrrell]/ Receiver-General./ [H. Cooper] Comptroller./ To the Distributer of Stamps/ [Limerick & Clare]"; in pencil across bottom "Ques Limerick Chronicle?" . Reverse printed at centre "To/ The Distributer of Stamps,/ Post Paid. [Limerick]". Has been folded from edges to middle, from bottom up, then top down and sealed. Rectangular red cancellation over address, "Paid/ FE 12A/ 1844"; circular black on reverse as folded, "Limerick/ FE3/ 1844". Perforation at centre where stuck on spike. Watermark; "Crown over post-horn inside a cartouche, "SE & Co" under.
