Receipt, printed and ms; black on white. Single sheet printed folded and printed on front and rear, central pages blank. Front, "Stamp Office, Dublin,/ No. [1422 3rd] day of [Nov] 184[3]/ Received from [Peter O'Brien]/ Distributer of Stamps for [Limerick] the Sum of/ [Three Pounds Four Shillings] / on Account of Stamp Duties, being the Amount of his/ Remittance for the Week end ("his" to "end" crossed out) [a Board/ Order of] the [9 October 1843 to pay/ the Propr. of the Clare Journal]/ £ [3:4/- Robert Tyrrell]/ Receiver-General./ [H. Cooper] Comptroller./ To the Distributer of Stamps/ [Limerick & Clare]". Reverse printed at centre "To/ The Distributer of Stamps,/ Post Paid. [Limerick]". Has been folded from edges to middle, from bottom up, then top down and sealed. Rectangular red cancellation over address, "Paid/ NO 3A/ 1843"; circular black on reverse as folded, "Limerick/ NO 4/ 1843". Torn near centre fold where seal broken. Perforation at centre where stuck on spike. Watermark; "Crown over post-horn inside a cartouche, "SE & Co" under.
