Seal press: Limerick market Trustees; 1852, with lower seal plate attached (negative seal from this LM1984.47.). Flat iron base set into wooden stand, with lower seal matrix set onto it; from the base rises a curving arm to take a vertical screw thread; the lower end of the thread would hold the negative which meets the positive on the base; the upper end of the thread has a cross handle with both ends heavily ball weighted to apply downward pressure. Seal shows Justice with scales and sword, plough, rake, wheatsheaf and sickle on ground to left, sailing ship behind; inscribed around "Limerick Market Trustees 1852".
