Illuminated address, in booklet form. Bound in green leather, on front cover in gold inside a frame with leaves in each corner, "Presented To/ Mr. and Mrs. Cartledge/ By the/ Senior Nurses and Tradesmen/ of the Limerick District Lunatic Asylum/ February 1911", on resignation after over 30yrs service. 4 card pages, each illuminated. Page 1 has an ornate border, in green red blue red gold and white, with the initial letters of four of the lines incorporated into the left edge; reads "Presented/ To Mr. and Mrs Cartledge/ By the/ Senior Nurses/ and Tradesmen/ of the/ Limerick/ District Lunatic Asylum/ February 1911", initial letters of words on lines 1, 2, 4, and 5 are in gold, first line basically green, lines 2 4 and 6 pink , maroon red and blue, lines 5, 7 and 10 in black, and lines 8 and 9 in red with blue initial letters. Second page; a rectangular border, gold and red, surrounded by trails of multicolored leaves; frame incorporates at each corner, a two monograms? repeating diagonally opposite; at centre left a b/w head and shoulders print of Mrs Cartledge in an oval surround, at centre right the same of Mr. Cartledge; at centre top a shield with the arms of Limerick against a red background, "Luimneach" over; at centre bottom inside a rectangular frame with two rounded corners, a depiction of a large building, presumably the Asylum; inside the frame is the first part of the address, with some gold lettering near start, remainder in red and black. Page three, continuation of the address in black and white inside a border with floral motifs down left edge in gold, red, blue, white orange green, black. Final page, an ornate rectangular border in red blue, green, gold, black, orange and white; inside the conclusion of the address and the persons involved, not signatures; "Winifred Coleman, Maria Hanly, Maria Kinnane, Annie Liston, Mary Minihan, M. A. Moloney, Helena McEvoy, Bridget McMahon, Agnes McNamara, Katie Ryan, Lizzie Sheehan, Hannah Toomey, Matthew Browne, Joseph Buckner, Thomas Coffey, James Condon, John Lee, Michael Martin, Michael Mulcahy, Richard Walsh and Thomas Ward."; below border "Designed and Illuminated for Messrs G. McKern & Sons/ by/ Joseph O'Donoghue, Limerick. Each page is bound at spine with green cloth, the inside of the covers are lined with cream watered silk?; back cover has a gold tooled frame similar to the front, seven gold lines across spine; inside of cover between the edge of silk and edge of cover has a repeating gold border.
