Tray, Limerick silver spoon tray by Joseph Johns, c. 1740. Oval with splayed fluted sides and standing on four waisted bun feet. A crest is engraved in the centre top, a wolf or German shepherd dog sitting on a ground, facing l., tail between legs and rising above the level of the back, mouth open and tongue protruding. Marks: II, lion rampant between, on shield, Sterling in rectangle below it on the centre of the underside. There is extensive scratched writing on the underside, amongst which are: August 19th aged 28 / 1842 / AD, G.W., 1-2-9 twice, Is the ... alive, plus other indecipherable
