Jar, whiskey. Ceramic, with cork. John Neiland & Son, Limerick. Flat based cylindrical jar with narrow bevel to base, conical above the shoulder, thick expanding circular mouthpiece on top, with ridge and groove ornament above its junction with the jar. Strap handle from shoulder to below the mouthpiece, with a tongue shaped drop 4.5 cm down the body. The handle has a broad central rounded ridge with groove to each side, and raised rounded edges. Salt glazed, pale brown above, cream below. Above shoulder opposite handle inscribed in sgraffiti: John Neiland & Son / Wine & Spirit Merchants / Limerick. Makers mark stamped in oval beside handle: Price / T / Bristol. Edge of lower half of handle damaged on one side
