Letter, Lord Monteagle (Thomas Spring Rice) to anon, 9 July 1962, apologising for delay in returning an object. Sheet folded, handwritten on sides one and two. Headed Exchqr, to My Dear Sir, happy to redeem character which had been at discount in consequence of delaying so long in returning enclosed, but truth is did not lay hands on his valuable and interesting papers until that general clearing which preceded the close of the session. Owes much to him for his masterly precis ... very faithfully yours, Monteagle. Watermark: top of a crown, cut through, and vertical lines.
