Limerick silver saffron pot by Jonathan Buck, c.1740. Miniature globular teapot shaped with straight spout, wooden ear-shaped handle and separate lid. Circular flange to flat base, which is silver soldered on. The spout is a straight conical tube attached to the lower half of the body at an angle of c.45 degrees, the top of the spout just below the top of the pot. The body of the pot has a pointed oval of perforations at the attachment, eight holes around and one at centre. The handle, of carved wood, is attached to the body opposite the handle, at the top fitting into a silver cylinder from the top of the pot and held by a rivet, at the bottom held by a screw to a small knop on the body. Hammer marks are present on the inside of the pot, as are solder attaching the base and outlines of the makers marks. There is a groove towards the edge of the base, which has a centre compass hollow. Marks, IB in rectangle, twice, once above and once below the centre hollow.
