Clock, longcase, from the Watch House, Glentworth Street. No maker's name visible. Mahogany veneered case. Flat topped hood with reeded columns on either side of the square arched dial door. Gilded pediment and capitols (acanthus leaf) to columns. Trunk has short door with domed top, quarter reeded columns in the corners. Marquetry inlay above door. keyhole with brass fitting on door. Inlaid rectangle below door. Base almost square, plain, with no internal base. Dial enamelled iron, white background, chipped in places, face outlined by a broken circle in gold, floral decoration in spandrels. Openwork hands. Keyholes to each side. Hours marked 1-12 in Arabic numerals, several faded. Arch has painted scene, female figure standing in front of harp and stool, r. arm raised holding a laurel, l. hand holding scroll, tree on her l. Door on pivots top and bottom. The front of the door has been forced and a large piece is missing. Two cylindrical weights, lead in sheet iron canisters, each made in two pieces.
