Fork, Limerick silver three pronged fork by Joseph Johns, c.1740. Hanoverian. Prongs concave, each oval in cross section, the hollows between the prongs sloping up behind the prongs. Handle swells to rounded up-turned end, with central slight ridge along the handle end. Crest engraved on the underside of the handle end: a dog or monkey standing on a ground, facing left, a chain around its waist trailing behind. Makers mark on the underside of the narrow part of the handle, I I, lion rampant between, on shield, once on each side of 'Sterling' in rectangle with concave long sided, upside down in relation to the makers punches.
