Textile and other industries sprang up in these centres bolstering the/ depressed agriculturally based economy- which had, unfortunately depended/ largely on the blight stricken spud (potato)/ With the occasional motor car taking the place of the horse and carriage, life/ at home must sometimes have been nearly as exciting as that in the "New/ World"!"
