The band holding the elephants pack in place bears legend, Extra Police. In backgound three women outside a cabin look on, their skirts labelled Limerick Cork and Monanimy (Co Cork) Drawn by J.D. Reigh. Text under John Poyntz Barnum, Showman- What shall I do with this infernal beast? His keep is something awful. If those people won't contribute I'M afraid I shall have/ to put my hand into my own pocket or my employers'. Hi up there lazy bones! Let us make another attempt to frighten them into paying.
