Lease, manuscript on parchment. Indenture; lease of land in St. Francis Abbey, by Edmond Lord Viscount Pery to Simon Kent, tanner, dated 1st May 1794. Plot of land late in the possession of John Creagh, merchant, bounded by Simon Kent's holdings on three sides and lane leading to County of Limerick Hospital on the 4th. Written on one side and bottom edge turned up and secured in two places with red tape; red wax on tape at front with same seal impressed into both, seal unclear. Document written in one hand but with spaces left wherever Viscounts name to appear and his name added throughout in second hand. Plan of the plot held to turn-up by blob of wax. Black ink on paper, shows outline of plot and the adjoining landholders, at bottom "Measured by James Williams". Paper later numbered 7, following sequence on 1997.0234-35. Parallel line watermark. Blue paper stamp duty at top left, with small lead strip through, embossed with a crowned and wreathed harp with "Geo III" at top left, and "II Shillings/ VI Pence" at bottom. Stamp on reverse, black on white GR monogram. Below stamp duty circular rubber stamp "21/ Pence" struck 3 times. Witnessed on reverse by Hugh Monsell, Robert Pugent, L. Hill and James Williams. Folded twice longitudinally, then from either side to middle then in half. Outer cover annotated as to contents with "No6/10" in brown pencil below. Blue rubber stamp with MS additions "Barrington & Son/ 10 Ely Place/ Dublin/ Strong Room/ Box [38]/ No. [3b]. 1997.0234-36 held together with a length of red tape.
