Lease, manuscript on parchment. Indenture; lease by Edmond Sexten Pery of two plots of land in St. Francis Abbey to Simon Kent, tanner, dated 14th April 1783. Lands described in relationship to Sir Henry Hartstonge Baronet's holding, lane leading to Change Lane, lane leading to the chapel, Jacob Ringrose's holding, Main Street, Sir Henry Hartstonge's Mall, and John Southerland's (Sutherland) holding. Conditions include that no thatch to be used on site, and streets to be kept clean Written on one side, bottom edge folded up and secured at two points with white tape. Red wax over tape at front, both with same seal. Seal; shield, quartered but with unclear devices, inside a diamond inside a circular border decorated with C-scroll; diamond is quartered with line and dots, with band across centre with lions passant. Signature of Edmond Sexten Pery around left and of Simon Kent around right seal. Left tape also holds two plans in position. Both plans in ink on white paper, showing plot and adjoining landholders, the lower includes a Wm Ryan's Holding; both subsequently numbered in pencil, 5 and 6 (Numbering follows on from 1997.0234). Watermark on one sheet a crowned garter with Royal Arms, parallel lines on the other. Blue paper stamp duty stamp at top left, embossed with wreathed and crowned coat of arms, with "Geo III" at top left, "II Shillings/ VI Pence" at bottom, "GR" monogram in brown on white paper on reverse over small lead strip. Circular rubber stamp below paper stamp "22 Pence". Witnessed on reverse by John Dowdall Hammond and William Hogg, with codicil signed by the parties and Hammond. Folded twice longitudinally, then either end to centre then in half. Outer cover annotated as to contents; "No 5/9" in brown pencil below. Rectangular rubber stamp with ms additions, "Barrington & Son/ 10 Ely Place/ Dublin/ Strong Room/ Box [38]/ No. [2b]. 1997.0234-36 held together by red tape.
