Button, brass, 53rd (Shropshire) Regiment of Foot by Peter Tait & Co, Limerick. Domed front with flat top impressed, raised, a garter inscribed Shropshire around 53. Slight shoulder around the edge of the button, the front piece overlapping the flat back piece, which has a central circular hollow with two perforations holding the looped wire attachment. Back surface worn, but is impressed P. Tait & Co. / Limerick between double circle, the outer circle dotted, the inner of radial lines aroung the central hollow.
