Front page, second column, report from the Camp before Limerick on the Clare side, 24 Sept: General crossed Shannon on 22nd with strong force, left Duke of Wurtemberg commanding on Limerick side; Drew up before Englishtown on Clare side, cannon playing from castle and towers; reinforcements from town across Thomond Bridge attacked, drawbridge raised, about 600 killed and many prisoners; Col Wauchope, looking out of a tower, called to Scravenmore to speak with him; he and Sarsfield came out and talked about terms for surrender; great disorder among garrison that night, French governor insulted; next day 3 day truce arranged to fetch Horse under Col Sheldon at Sixmilebridge so that they would be included in terms; the treaty continues; now possessed of all works on Clare side, especially the fort guarding Thomond Bridge. Dublin 29 Sept: action at Thomond Bridge, hostages exchanged, articles agreed, Lord Justices Porter and Coningsby gone to Kilkenny to ratify treaty. Bristol 5 Oct: news of surrender of Limerick; prisoners from Limerick taken to Youghal with news of surrender, Williamites in Irishtown. Kinsale, 2 Oct, news of surrender of Limerick.
