R/ first column, report from Camp before Limerick, 15 Sept: Batteries have made very large breach in walls of Englishtown; on the 11th bombs and carcasses set fire to it, and deserters say it burnt two stores of biscuit and one of brandy, since when they have been moving what provisions they have into Irishtown; their horse camped between Limerick and Killaloe. Dublin, 21 Sept: Arrived Captain Gorges from camp before Limerick: General crossed Shannon on pontoons above Limerick on 16th, Brigadier Clifford there to oppose them, came down on foot, horses at grass, put to flight leaving arms, tents etc and standard of Maxwell, several officers killed and taken prisoner; Their horse marched off in disorder to mountains; Fitten, Neagle and Plowden, Lord Justices of Ireland, in Limerick, where confusion is great and provisions scarce; Horse and Foot sent in pursuit of Irish in Clare; Lord Lisburn killed by cannon ball; On 17th, Captain Taaff came over saying town ruined, many men killed, not 10 days bread in town and not above 6000 foot, all ill-clad.
