Address, illuminated, to John Coleman DC CC from the Nationalist electors of Croom Electoral Division of the County of Limerick, 20 August 1899. Illuminated by W. Riordan, Limerick. Framed. Border rectangular with ornamental corners, the sides a blue line on gilt, the corners octagonal with concave sides and U-hollows at centre of six sides, each corner containing two red and blue interlace squares with, at centre, a five petalled flower. Across top, the word Address with ornate capital, red on a blue and white floral geometric pattern. Text: friends resolved to mark their appreciation of his public career for many years as an uncompromising nationalist; recent election, in which he was unsuccessful, an example of his single-mindedness in support of nationalism against West Britonism; another instance was his refusal to take the oath of allegiance prescribed for magistrates when elected as chairman of Croom Rural District Council; trust time will come again when upholding cause of nationality in Limerick; beg to accept accompanying purse of soverigns; dated 20 August 1899.
