Diploma, printed. "Diploma of Membership in the/ Confraternity of the Holy Family." Central black and white depiction of the Holy Family with dove above at centre, with ornate coloured frame in red, yellow, blue, green and gold around it. The title is in a panel above the picture and below is "This is to Certify/ that ............. has been admitted/ a member of the Confraternity of the Holy Family/ St. Alphonsus' Church, Limerick/ on the .... day of ... 19../ ...../ Director." At centre left a circular panel with a central field containing a dove, olive branch in beak, resting on rock in sea, set in front of papal crossed keys under a mitre, motto "Opus Justitiae Pax"; "Holy Family teach us/ How to Pray" above and below. At centre right a circle containing a gold harp on a green field inside a shield; "Holy Family teach us/ How to Work". At centre bottom of picture and above text a mitre inside a shield with cardinals hat with tassels above. The areas between the main panels is infilled with smaller panels of Celtic interlace, and the whole has a white margin around. In margin at left "Joseph Dempsey"; at right "[maltese cross] Permissu Superiorum [maltese cross]. One example taken from a ream with a Little & McClean Ltd, Belfast label on it.
