Army commission, printed, with ms additions. Awarded to Major Patrick Duggan, 1944. Text in Irish with name, rank and date filled out in ms. Signed by Douglas Hyde, President, Eamon De Valera Taoiseach, and Oscar Traynor Defence Minister. Signatures under the embossed Presidential seal; circular, with harp at centre with "Eire" under it, with band of Celtic motifs around inside a band of interlace. All set within a rectangular border with corner and mid side panels. Animal interlace between the panels; animal interlace also at corner and centre bottom panels; centre top circular panel "FF" gartered in a sunburst, with "Oglaigh na hEireann" on garter; circular panels at centre of sides with spiral motifs.
