Medal, copper alloy, oval with suspension loop at top. "Archconfraternity fo the Holy Family". O/ in bottom two thirds; Jesus, at centre, as youth, haloed, his left hand on chest the right raised in blessing; to left Mary, both hands together in prayer, looking down at Jesus; right, Joseph his right hand on chest, left holding stem of lilies?; radiant dove above centre; around at top "Jesus Mary Joseph". R/ title around, at centre "Established/ by/ Pius IX/ April 1847", at bottom centre a star. Stamped at bottom partly over star, "City Printing Co./ Limerick". Green silk suspension ribbon, very worn, held to suspension loop by green thread.
