Montage; Design for a diorama; depicts St. Patrick baptising Cengus King of Munster, at Cashel. At centre foreground Patrick staff in hand blesses a kneeling Cengus, while the tip of his staff pierces the king's foot; to the left of picture are Patrick's followers, with candles and banner; to the right behind the king is his wife and other women and a group of warriors, who have two large wolfhounds with them. In the centre background is an anachronistic depiction of Cashel as it is today; while Patricks's followers stand in front of a monolith covered in spiral decoration. Signed at bottom right "Thomas Ryan/ 1 Feb 1965". Hardboard backing onto which is pasted a sheet of black paper as background; onto this the remaining detail has been pasted, with the figures at front cut from thick card to give a sense of depth.
