Postcard, colour, matt; portrait style; white margin across the bottom in which is the caption "Sarsfield surprises the Williamite Siege Train, 11th August, 1690/ Swooping down on the enemy's camp in the night Sarsfield suc-/ ceeded in destroying the artillery destined for the Siege of Limerick." Reproduction of a painting showing Sarsfield sword raised and mounted on a charger, accompanied by other horsemen surprising some men sleeping around a camp-fire and just getting up to defend themselves. Reverse printed in grey; at centre top "Valentine's Series/ Famous/ throughout/ the/ world" with "throughout2 printed across two tangential globes showing the continents; to left of previous "Post" and to right "Card"; vertical central dividing line; up left edge "Valentine. Dublin"; box for stamp at top right corner; "Printed in Scotland" up right outside edge of box. Unposted and unused. Pencil dealer's marks "Lim" at top left and "£5" at bottom to right of centre.
