View shows the castle across a lawn and framed by trees on either side; to the right by the edge of the trees is a woman sitting on a bench with a dog lying on the ground, with a man standing in front of her; a second, empty, bench in the left foreground is next to a path running up to the castle. Reverse printed in green; "Post Card" at centre top with a double underlining; double central division lines; up left edge "H. Norman. Rathkeale"; to left of centre "This space may be used for Inland and Foreign/ Communication except to Japan and Spain./ (Post Office Regulation)." to right "The address only to be/ written here".; box for stamp at top right corner largely obscured by stamp. Green halfpenny postage revenue stamp of George V; first half-profile issue. Two circular black cancellations across stamp bisecting each other, both read "Rathkeale/ 8 PM/ JY 23/ 12". Addressed in pencil to Miss Pearson, 3 Ashfield Pk., Terenure, Dublin, from ?Evie, message about the problems of getting from Croom to Rathkeale. Pencil dealers mark at top right "[pound sign]1.50".
