Puttee, leather. Part of Royal Irish Constabulary uniform of D. Naughton. Left puttee, with four eyes, on one side and a looped lace passing through four eyes and punched holes on the other, under side; at top is a strap meeting a bronze buckle. The main part is made of two pieces, butt seamed, with reinforcing strips on reverse of either side of the closing; the top edge is reinforced on the outside edge with a narrow leather band which holds the buckle and at the point of closing becomes the strap for fastening. Inscribed in black on the inside, "DN".
