Postcard, b/w, matt. Lawrence. Caption "Foynes. Memorial Cross. Co. Limerick" in sepia across the bottom of front. View shows a hill surmounted by a large cross, with the river in the foreground; three rowing boats are visible on the water and a further two on the shore, a larger single masted sailing boat is anchored to the left of a stone mole and to the right a wooden slipway is also visible. Above the shore is the line of the road and a single large house standing to the centre right of picture is the only building in shot. The reverse is printed in sepia; "POST CARD" at centre top with a vertical wavy line below; to right of vertical line "The address only to be written here"; to left of line "This space may be used for communication for inland Postage and Foreign Countries, except Japan, Spain and United States." and "Lawrence, Dublin up left margin. The card is addressed to Miss Mary Noonan, 2903 Wallace St., Chicago, Ill. Americe [sic], by her nephew Thomas of Knocknaboula, Loughill [Knocknabooly, Loghill of townland index?] and dated 12:12:06; wishing her a merry Xmas. Stamp in bottom right corner; one penny red postage/revenue stamp of Edward VII. Circular cancellation reads "Loughill/ A/ DE12/ 06.
