Manuscript on parchment. Lease by Lawrence Clayton to William Bagg, merchant of Cork, of Gortnegross, Ramsin and Scarteen being part of the ploughland of Short Castle, Co. Cork. Dated 29th August 1706. Written on a single sheet of lined parchment with wide left margin. Folded up at the bottom and held together with a strip of parchment on which is the signed seal of Lawrence Clayton. Red wax seal depicting an owl. Witnessed and a memorandum on reverse. Memorandum states that on 4/10/06 Thomas Ruby entered the land of E. Gortnacross. Folded in three horizontally, then in half and half again. Annotated on the outer fold with the contents. Outer cover stamped with the rectangular blue stamp of the Irish Land Commission.
