Lease, manuscript on parchment. Renewal of lease on lands of Killeen and Backfield, both in the Barony of Tulla, Co. Clare, from the Earl of Limerick to George Studdert. Written on two sheets of lined parchment, with red ruled margins. 3 blue Revenue stamps on the lower and one on the upper sheet. The two sheets are joined at the bottom, with the lower sheet folded up over the base of the upper. Held together at four points, the outer two of which are made of strips of parchment, the central two of pale pink ribbon. At front the ribbons are sealed with red wax and signed by the parties to the agreement. The same seal matrix is used for both seals. Oval frame with crowned garter; the field within the garter is blank, the garter bears the motto "spes tutissima coelis" (the motto of neither family?), an indeterminate animal rises above the crown. The document is witnessed on the reverse of the lower sheet. The sheets are folded top and bottom to centre, then in half, then the two ends to centre and then in half. The outer wrapper is annotated with the contents and is stamped twice in blue, one stamp over the other. The main stamp is oval with an outer border which reads "H.C.J.I., Land Judges, Deeds Office"; the central field of which has to be filled out by hand under the headings "Box, Soh, and No.". The overstamp reads "Finally delivered" in a rectangular frame. Both stamps in blue ink.
