258:1 - Cartoon by Spy for Vanity Fair, 27:10:1904. Polychrome print with wide white border (wider at bottom). Top left, on border, Vanity Fair (magazine), top right, Octr. 27th. 1904, bottom left, Vincent Brooks, Day & Son Ltd. lith., bottom centre, below margin of print, "the Major from Clare". Top right, handwritten in pencil, Ire. the print itself is signed SPY at lower left. The print shows a middle aged man with a moustache, standing with his hands behind his back, wearing a top hat, wing-collar shirt, tie with a motif on it, long overcoat with flower in the buttonhole, trousers with turned up ends, black shoes with white spats. 258:2 - Page of text, probably from Vanity Fair also, giving a humourous potted biography of the Major, headed Men of the Day.
