First side; "Stamp Office, Dublin,/ No. [1585 4] day of [Decr.] 1842/ Received from [Peter O'Brien]/ Distributer of Stamps for [Limerick] the Sum of/ [Three Pounds four shillings]/ on Account of Stamp Duties, being the Amount of his/ remittance for the week end the {"his" to "end" crossed out} [Board / order of the 8th Nov 1842 to pay/ the Proprietor of the Clare Journal]/ {ps} [3.4.0 / J.W. Atkinson/ for]/ Receiver-General/ [H. Cooper] Comptroller./ To the Distributer of Stamps./ [Limerick & Clare]". Final page "To/ Distributer of Stamps,/ [Limerick]/ Post Paid.". Back forms the address; left end folded inward, bottom upwards then top down and sealed at right. Rectangular red cancellation over address "Paid/ DE7A/ 1842"; circular black cancellation on reverse as folded "Limerick/ DE 8/ 1842". Hole in paper where seal opened, holed by spike. Watermark; "S. Evans & Co/ 1841" and parallel lines.
