Envelope, addressed to Peter O'Brien Esqr., Stamp Office, Limerick. In second hand above address "Solicitor/ Lynch ???????". Victoria penny red unperforated postage stamp, at top right, letters LI. Cancellation on stamp "285" in a lozenge of parallel lines. Three circular cancellations on reverse, "Limerick/ JA 6/ 1848/F", "Kilrush/ JA 6/ 1848" and "Ennis/ JA 6/ 1848". Red seal on flap, "R. Cox" in a rectangle. Perforation through envelope above address, with tear from top edge to perforation.
