Letter, ms. To Peter O'Brien, Merchant, Limerick, from Walter & D. Johnston, Bordeaux 256h March 1939. Circular letter, re wines of 1837 which appear to be good, in contrast with those of 1838 which retain their harshness; with price list below signature. Single sheet folded and written on first page only; then folded four times to make a cover; seal torn off. Address face stamped twice "W & D Johnston" in an oval and "Dublin/ Ship Letter",with "Y5" in ms. above letter and "P. Gipsey" in ms at bottom left. Two cancellations on reverse across edge of paper; in black, circular "Limerick/ A[P?] 26/ 1839" and, inside a red lozenge "4*/ AP 25/ 39". Perforation through centre of unfolded letter, lower part of first side removed.
