Spoon, Limerick silver dessert spoon by Thomas Burke. Old English pattern with downcurved handle, bright cut, round drop. Decoration, a pointed oval made up of punched D shapes in which crest of a ?heron standing facing left, wings folded, beak closed; above oval a rose made up of punched D-shapes from which a border of punched dots running to the oval, a second double row of dots forming a droplet shape extending into the upper part of the oval, and a chain of inverted V's either side of droplet running up to rose; below oval zig-zag border with double row of dots inside running to bowl, and three dots with three arrows in line above, running up to bottom point of oval. maker's marks on reverse of handle, "T.B." either side of "STER" in a rectangle, marks overlapping slightly, the first B obscuring the S of Ster. Decoration and marks worn with polishing. One of a pair with next acquisition number.
