MEDAL: O/ (raised) Arms on shield, shield surrounded by chain, crossed by maces and divided vertically (behind) by a sword, blade upwards, a thistle and point of sword above the chain. Arms quartered, a castle top l. and bottom r., three lions passant arranged vertically top r. and bottom l. (arms of Limerick and mayoral arms). Below on scroll, motto of Limerick. Around, engraved, partly in Irish script: (4-dot losenge) Presented . by . the . (4-dot losenge) / Workers of Limerick. Encircling engraved line below flan. R/ Engraved within circle below flan, partly in Irish script: (3-dot triangle) to (3-dot triangle upside down) / Eoin O Croinin B.C. / (3 dashes, 3-dot triangle upside down) President (triangle, dashes) / United Trades and Labour Council / for loyalty to their cause / (one dash, 3-dot triangle f. l.) in troubled times (triangle r., dash) / Anti-conscription April, 1918 / Limerick Strike against British Militarism / April, 1919. WATCH: Gold pocket watch, Swiss Rolex, case hallmarked Birmingham 1920 - 1921. Front has small glass showing half the face, surrounded in blue with the hours in Roman numerals. Front opened by pressing winder, revealing full face, the hours in black Roman numerals. Second hand separate below. Minute hand plain, swelling centrally. Hour hand oval spear-tipped, with central swelling on shaft. Back of case engraved with circular geometric and floral motif covering most of surface. Backing plate inside back of case engraved on its outside in Irish script: Fior-cairde / do / Shean O Croinin / Comhairleor / a bhronn mise air la / socruighthe an Chonnartha / idir muinntir na / hEireann agus na nGall / 7adh Mi na Nodlag / 1921 (true friends of Councillor John Cronin presented me to him the day the treaty between the people of Ireland and the foreigners was settled, 7 December 1921). Two of the cog wheels are engraved, one Rolex lever, the other Swiss made. Marks: inside backing plate: Denison / Watch / Case Co. CHAIN: Twelve links, each elongated slightly twisted oval, and 21 small oval links, 4 small ovals on a hooked spring clip holding the watch, and a button hole bar on 3 small ovals joined to the second of three small ovals between the the second and third long oval above the medal.
