Pistol. Irish officers saw-handled percussion cap pistol by Boyd, Limerick. Barrel octagonal towards the hammer, becoming cylindrical. The handle has a near conical backward projection towards the top, and is ornamented with closely spaced criss-crossing. Butt oval, with an oval metal boss attached with a screw. The head of the hammer is in the form of a fish, with scales, eyes and teeth engraved. The side plate is engraved Boyd, Limerick. The barrel is in inscribed London, initialled R.W. and stamped in oval with crown over conjoined CP, and also, in oval, crown over V.
