The whole was originally bound in half leather, but the spine and front cover have been rebound in cloth, with, Private/ Ledger in gold on red leather on spine. The whole was closed with a brass lock, held in place by 4 pins to each of the covers, but it was not reattached to the front cover. Billhead of the company sellotaped to first leaf.
