Pistol, iron. RIC Mark III, .38 calibre Webley pistol; from Dromkeen ambush 1921. 6 chambers, one lever to open and another to release cylinder, guard around trigger, Stamps on barrel section; P. Webley & Son/ London & Birmingham; Mark III 38; a Crown over BP; a Crown over BV. On handle section; a logo of a winged bullet over, W & S and a Crown over BVon one side; on the other side 23128/ Webley/ Patents; on metal strip between the two wooden sections of the grip, RIC 219. On outside of cylinder, below groove between chambers, a Crown over BP alternating with a Crown over BV; on face against firing pin, .38 and 123. Black wood grips, with diamond grooving, on either side. Captured by Vol. James Lawlor IRA of B Company IIII Batallion Mid Limerick Brigade, Feb 1921.
