Illustrated London News 8th Oct 1853; with reports on the opening of the new Floating Dock and turning of the first sod on the Limerick-Foynes railway line, both carried out by the Lord Lieutenant. PP297-316, part of a discbound volume; Limerick report on pp 309-310. Report includes two prints, one entitled, Opening of the New Floating Docks at Limerick, by the Lord Lieutenant, the other, The Lord Lieutenant commencing the Limerick and Foynes Harbour Railway. The former shows a large number of ships and boats all bedecked in flags and pennants; the other shows the Lord Lt. pushing a wheelbarrow while someone holds an umbrella over him, amongst a crowd of onlookers.
