Clock, longcase, by Thomas Blundell, George Street, Limerick. Plain straight sided wood case with moulding at top and bottom of face, bottom of door and pedestal. Wood face with keyhole cut through, through which the dial etc project. Rotating bronze dial with Roman numerals (I-XII) with iron pointer above. The side of the dial has holes at every half hour, with projecting lugs which can be set to engage a mechanism (chime?) under the pointer. Maker's name engraved at top, by pointer. Weight and chain present, pendulum missing. Face glass fronted, hinged on right, as is front door. Bead moulding missing from on l. side and at r. top. Pedestal moulding at bottom r. missing. In l. side at face level a rectangular panel (repair) is set, held by nails on the inside. On front are traces of varnish which has been overpainted in a dirty (nicotine stained) light creamy brown. The paint extends onto the l. side to within 2.5 cm of the back, and is absent from the r. side. Variety of woods used. . Chalked on R/ of face panel: Aug. 2nd 1934 Hindenberg is dead today RIP. A number of notes chalked on back of door, dates 1932 and others without year.
