View looking across the Shannon towards the new town at right of centre and the medieval town at left. Two large ships in the river, empty rowing boat flying flag with union flag in the corner, in foreground, other sailboat and a rowing boat in distance. At left of picture a balloon rises above the city. 6 numbered buildings, with key below 1, St. Munchin's Church, 2, The Poor House, 3, The Cathedral, 4, The Custom House, 5, Arthur's Quay, 6, Newtown Pery. Grey, pink and light blue colouring, faint. Set in a ruled double border, a thick inner border with narrower outer one. Artist's name at bottom right of frame followed by 1786 crossed out. Title below border and over key to numbers. Above the border inscribed, No. 1. Engraved for Ferrars History of Limerick, 1786. Drawn on thick paper with parallel line watermarking and part of a fleur-de-lis
