Medal, gold, Oireachtas 1905, to uileann piper Liam O Cathain. O/ At centre, Celtic interlace animal in relief, raised plain border around with evenly spaced raised circles. Border around containing, raised, at top, Oireachtas, and around, a repeating pattern of geometric ornament consisting of: a raised circle with central dot and four incised circles with an incised triangle between the incised circles, the principal circle bordered by two triangles with a smaller trinagle inserted between the apexes, and outside this, a line of three circles at right angles to the medal edge. R/ engraved Do bronnadh / an bonn so ar / Thomas O Cathain / do rug buaidh / ag seinim ar an bpib / uillinne ag / Oireachtas 1905. (This medal was awarded to Thomas Keane who won at playing the uileann pipes at the Oireachtas 1905). Makers mark, H & H Dublin, raised, inside bottom edge. Stepped raised edge to medal, suspension loop with copper alloy ring at top.
