Front page, second column, report from the Camp before Limerick, 6 Sept: Enemy horse left their camp under cannon fire from town and marched to another on road from Limerick to Killaloe; posted four regiments of dragoons to guard fords of Shannon; Made line of contavallation with four forts, now raising new batteries on right on which will be 45 cannon, the least 18 pounder, and 11 mortars: these are in almost the same place as last year. Deserters say not much provisions in town, that militia forced into town by Tyrconnell after battle of Aughrim anxious to go home, and that d'Usson has promised to dismiss them if succour from France not arrived in 12 days; Bombs have set some houses on fire and killed Lady Dillon; reinforcements sent to Kerry; Lord Castleconnell taken prisoner and brought to camp; 2-300 Protestant inhabitants of Limerick were put on small island in river - their guard called Major Stroud and brought them off in boats; matters agreed with Beldearg O'Donnell and he has gone to assist with siege.
