Button, military uniform, 22nd Foot, Cheshire Regiment, 1855 - 1881. Brass. Domed front with central circle enclosing number 22 in oak garland, ends tied. Circle surrounded by eight point star formed with alternate plain and dotted raised radial lines. R/ circular plate held by the bevelled turned over edge of the front, with central hollow with two perforations holding the U-shaped wire attatching loop. Plate edged with dotted line enclosing inscription * P. Tait & Co. * / Limerick. Central hollow surrounded by circle of radial grooved arranged in groups of five, the central of each set the longest, diminishing in length to each side.
