Document, legal; manuscript on parchment. Renewal of lease 1998.041, by Rt. Hon. Edmond Henry Earl of Limerick to William Hartigan, of land in S. Priorsland, dated Feb 4th 1834. Of the three lives of previous lease, George IV and John Hartigan McKnight both deceased, William (IV) Henry Duke of Lancaster only survivor; in renewal, Hartigan himself and "John Howley, now aged about five years only, son of William Howley of the City of Limerick" substituted for the deceased. Folded up at bottom and stitched each side with parchment and at centre twice, with pink tape; red seals over tape, with signatures of parties to l. of each; both seals using same trellis matrix. At top left blue paper stamp duty stamp with lead strip though, embossed; bust of George III in an oval with "Georgius/ III DG ..." around, between sheaves of corn joined below at a harp, over "Ireland", above oval "Five Shillings" with crown over at centre with "GR" to left and "III" to right. Circular black stamp with "2 SH/ 6 Pen" inside, touching top left corner of stamp duty stamp."Red "Limerick" stamped above. Crowned monogram "GR" in brown on white, on stamp covering lead at reverse of stamp duty stamp. Witnessed on reverse by Mat. Barrington and James Barry for the Earl and James Barry and Robert Keays for Hartigan. Folded three times, then from both ends to middle and in half. Annotated as to contents as folded, with James Barry 3 Palace St below in same hand. Added by different hand in red ink "Fol 423", with "423" in pencil above it. Two blue stamps, one rectangular "Finally Delivered" and the other oval, "[maltese cross] H.C.J.I. [maltese cross]/ Land Judges Deeds Office" around, at centre "Box [ms]8457-8-9/ Sch [ms]A/ No. [ms]66". In blue pencil "4" in a circle. On reverse "No 97 Rental"
