Letter, wife of Lord Granard, (Lady Selina Frances Rawdon) Thoria? House, Dublin, 29 Oct 1806, to ? Montgomery seeking his vote and support for her son Lord Forbes (Viscount George John Forbes) in the election for Co Longford; recipient would remember his grandfather and great grandfather ... flatter hemself upon his countenance to him ... nor think the Granard family presumptious in offering a representative to a county they have had such long claims on from establishment and residence in - Sir William Newcomen's son is his opponent as Lord Granard supports Sir Thomas Fetherston for whom she also begs to solicit support - Lord Granard desires her to offer his best compliments and to hope they will have the pleasure of seeing him at Castle Forbes. Her son is in the country busy canvassing and as he is a young ?? and as the dissolution of parliament was sudden and unexpected, perhaps he may have omitted writing to him - therefore trusts he will kindly wave that ceremony and allow her to do it for him. Signed S Fr Granard. Addressee bottom l. with question marks after christian and surnames. Written R/ Election letter from Ly. Granard Oct 29th (6). Watermark: part of crowned arms l. H. 24.8 W. 19.9
