Newspaper cutting 1 February 1839. Letter to the editor of the Times from A Friend of the People re genealogy of Daniel O'Connell of Derrinane. Says O'Connell attacked Lord Oxmantown on his ancestry. Gives details of O'Connells father, Morgan Connell, shopkeeper in Caherciveen; his uncle, Hunting-cap O'Connell of Derrinane, who made money from shipwrecks. No relation to Clare O'Connells. Inscribed by Maurice Lenihan: A vile production. One column wide with short section of second at top. Title on newspaper not present: letter M on one side, Sun on other.
