Salt bowl. Limerick silver by Joseph Johns. Circular, body oval in cross section. Three shell knuckle fluted hoof feet from the widest points of the body, undersides of the feet with narrow rim around hemispherical hollows. Very short neck below curving everted wave edged rim with closely spaced fluting. Body heavily ornamented, floral, rosettes in repousseee on a stippled backing, with stippled wavy band margin to plain base. Between two of the feet, oval cartouche bearing engraved crest, top half of a lion rampant on a ground facing left. Marks, on base above and below central compass hole, II, lion rampant between, on shield, and Sterling in rectangle, marks worn, but clear
